Vidyartha to felicitate Sport Minister

The Minister of Sports C. B. Ratnayake will be felicitated by his alma mater Vidyartha College, Kandy at a ceremony organized by the Old Boys Association of Vidyartha College which will be held at the College Hall in Kandy this Friday June 4 commencing at 9.30 a.m.
Many may not know that Minister Ratnayake played rugby as stand off for the college team at that time Kandy SC flanker H. G. Ariyaratne was the rugby coach. He was also an aggressive batsman in the College cricket team. He had a stint in boxing and also excelled at athletics.
For two years he was the President of the Nuwara Eliya District Cricket Association where he did a lot to improve and develop cricket in the district. One of his prime objectives was to provide a piece of land for the clubs in the district to put up a club house and from there the clubs could launch their future programs or plan their strategies through this meeting point.
