Wind Power Association formed

The Wind Power Association of Sri Lanka was formed recently to promote and harness the much untapped wind energy resource in Sri Lanka.

The main objectives of the association are to initiate with all relevant authorities in formulating, developing and implementing suitable national strategies to develop wind power industry, also to harvest this natural resource to the maximum, which is available in plenty for clean-green energy, so as to have a balanced energy mix in Sri Lankan power industry.

The main office bearers of the Wind Power Association are President Noel Selvanayagam, Vice President Aravinda de Silva, Secretary Manjula Perera and Treasurer Riyaz Sangani.

The initial member organizations of the association are Senok Wind Power (Pvt) Ltd, Seguwantivu Wind Power (Pvt) Ltd, Vidullanka Plc, KLS Energy Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Ace Wind Power (Pvt) Ltd, DLRE (Pvt) Ltd. The association will enroll more members with similar interest in the wind power sector.
