
Training for airport staff on chemical handling

The airport staff will be trained to adopt safety measures in handling dangerous chemical materials when unloading, storing and transporting them, Shipping and Aviation Information and Research Pvt Ltd chairman R. Hewage said.
The National Authority for the Implementation of Chemical Weapons Agreement and Shipping and Aviation Information and Research Pvt Ltd, jointly organized the programme.
Chemical Weapons Agreement Implementation Authority Director Dr. Rohan Perera said that while educating safe storage and transporting of chemical materials it is possible to uplift Sri Lanka's position in Asia as a Safety and protective country. The main objective of the programme to promote the country in the international arena as a safety trans centre to handle chemical materials. About 180 persons will be trained. Protective clothes will be issued to protect themselves from danger when handling these materials. The protective clothes will be donated by the Sri Lanka Office of International Chemical Weapons Implementation Authority.
