Police raid another fake money printing press, 4 held
Peliyagoda Police today arrested four persons allegedly involved in printing a counterfeit currency notes. The arrests were made following a search carried out at a location in Peliyagoda, according to information received. Fifteen counterfeit notes of Rs 1,000 denomination were found in the possession of the suspects while various equipment, including a computer used for printing the notes were also taken into police custody.

Man arrested for repeatedly raping 13-year-old daughter
A thirty-eight year old man has been arrested on charges of raping his 13- year old daughter on multiple occasions, Puttalam Police said. The victim, a grade 8 student, and her two younger sisters reside at Athungoda in Kottukachchiya under the care of her father. Their mother is employed in a foreign country, Ada Derana reporter said.

Suspect surrenders over Mirihana weapons haul
The alleged owner of a large haul of weapons, discovered hidden inside a residence in Mirihana, has surrendered to court. Mirihana Police, acting on information received, carried out a search at the residence on Old Kesbewa Road on Saturday (9) and found the weapons hidden inside a room on the 2nd floor.

Woman caught smuggling painkillers worth Rs.350,000
A Sri Lankan woman who attempted to illegally smuggle medicinal drugs worth nearly Rs 350,000 into the country has been arrested by customs officers at the Katunayake International Airport this morning. Sri Lanka Customs media spokesman Leslie Gamini stated that woman had arrived from Mumbai on flight UL 142 at around 5.45am today (3).

Heroin dealer nabbed at Ingurukade Junction
A suspect has been arrested for the possession of heroin near the Ingurukade Junction in Grandpass today. Approximately 25 grams and 100 milligrams of heroin was found in the suspect’s possession at the time of his arrest by the Western Province Anti-vice Unit. Police said the suspect is being further investigated under detention orders after he was produced at the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court.

Police hunt for motorcyclist who attacked nurses
Chilaw Police have launched an investigation to apprehend a motorcyclist who allegedly assaulted two female nurses, returning to their respective boarding houses after finishing their shift last night. Iresha (27) and Sandamali (28) had worked the shift from 1.00pm to 7.00pm on Friday (Nov. 1) in Ward No. 05 at the Chilaw Hospital and were returning back to their boarding houses separately when the attack had taken place.

Man held with gold worth Rs 2.5 million at airport
A Sri Lankan national attempting to board a flight with 3 pieces of gold wires, worth almost Rs 2.5 million, was arrested by customs officers at the Katunayake International Airport. The gold wires were found inside the luggage of an individual preparing to board a flight to Bangalore, India, Customs Spokesman Leslie Gamini said. The suspect was fined Rs 50,000 while airport customs are conducting further investigations.

Police arrest gang involved in 12 armed robberies
Four suspects have been arrested over 12 recent large scale armed robberies including the theft of Rs 7.5 million from a garment factory owner in Ja Ela and Rs 35 million in foreign currency and gold in Pettah. The suspects, Weerasinghe Suneetha, Susil Silva, Prasanna Sanjeewa Kumara and Sanjeewa Mandanayake, were arrested by a team of officers from the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID).
