Boat Show Sri Lanka opens today
The much awaited Boat Show Sri Lanka 2012 the boating industry's premier exhibition will be launched today at the BMICH in Colombo. The show will end on May 20. Among the objectives of the Boat Show will be to create awareness regarding the industry, both locally and internationally. There will be many international participants from the region as well as other parts of the globe, Boat Building Technology Improvement Institute Managing Director Gamini B. Herath told Daily News Business.

Angola receives first LNG tanker
Angola's first liquefied natural gas tanker arrived Friday, as the country prepares to start shipping methane, the international consortium behind the scheme said. “The ship will undergo preliminary tests to dock and connect to the LNG plant,” said Angola LNG, which includes state-owned giant Sonangol as well as Chevron, BP, Total and ENI.

Etihad Airways has again been named the Middle East’s Leading Airline for the sixth year in a row at a glittering black tie gala in Dubai recently.
Etihad Airways’ Michael Venus, Vice President Corporate Affairs, Aubrey Tiedt, Vice President Guest Services, Peter Baumgartner, Chief Commercial Officer, Lee Shave, Vice President Guest Experience, and Hareb Almuhairy, Vice President UAE Sales, accept the World Travel Award for Middle East’s Leading Airline 2012.
The accolade was one of four awards won by the national airline of the United Arab Emirates.

Emirates SkyCargo transports record horse shipment for Jubilee Pageant
Two Emirates SkyCargo special freighter charters have touched down in the UK, carrying a record cargo of over 100 horses.
A groom prepares one of the Royal Cavalry of Oman horses for transport to the UK on an Emirates SkyCargo Boeing 777 freighter.
The first shipment of 70 horses, which touched down on April 27, was the largest number ever transported by Emirates SkyCargo on a single freighter flight. The second flight arrived two days later carrying 42 horses.

SriLankan Airlines announced that it would strengthen its operations to the Middle East region during the recently concluded Arabian Travel Market (ATM) held in Dubai. “We see a substantial increase in arrivals from the Middle East region and as the national carrier we hope to facilitate tourism to Sri Lanka by strengthening our presence in the region. The commencement of direct flights to Dubai and Kuwait from May 1 was a step towards increasing capacity and connectivity from two of our major markets to Colombo,” said Nishantha Wickramasinghe, Chairman of Sri Lankan Airlines.
