Rs 21,000 million for Deyata Kirula
The government has spent around Rs. 21,000 million for the Deyata Kirula 2012 exhibition, mainly on the exhibition and the development programmes in Anuradhapura district to coincide with the 64th Independence Day celebrations, Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W. D. J. Senewiratne, said.
The government has given priority to infrastructure development in the Anuradhapura district and have implemented 162 power projects in several areas in the district as well. Under these new power projects the families in those areas will receive electricity supply, he added. The minister was addressing a special press briefing on the 64th Independence Day celebrations at the Information Department, on January 27. The minister pointed out that over Rs. 17,156 million as the total expenditure since last year and the government has spent Rs. 830 million on water supply projects and Rs.1,000 million for the constructions of 100 computer labs in schools in Anuradhapura. They have spent another Rs.3,800 million on development activities in art theatres and the Wilpattu National Park, reconstruction of religious centres in rural areas, establishing of Provincial Council building and training centres. Meanwhile hoisting the national flag on Independence Day has been made mandatory at state institutions.
