Inter monsoon condition still persists - Met Dept

The Department of Meteorology says that under the inter monsoon condition atmospheric disturbances in the vicinity of Sri Lanka still persist.

Showers or thundershowers will be fairly widespread especially during the afternoon or night while fairly heavy falls (about 100mm) are also likely at some places, it said.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers, the department said while requesting the public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.

It also forecasted showers or thundershowers in the sea areas off the coast extending from Putlam to Batticaloa via Galle.

Showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in the other sea areas around the island during the evening or night, the Met Department said.

Winds will be Southwesterly and speed will be 30-40 km/hr and can be strengthen up to 60kmph at times during thundershowers.
