Leader of the Democratic People’s Congress MP Prabha Ganesan says his party will contest the forthcoming election for the Western Provincial Council independently.

The Democratic People’s Congress had formed an alliance with the Upcountry People’s Front (UPF) to contest the recent Central Provincial Council election.

However issuing a statement today, Ganesan stated that the Democratic People’s Congress party would contest the next provincial polls separately and not as part of an alliance.

The MP expressed hope that his party would be able to obtain several seats in the Western Provincial Council as they have served the people of Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara.

Ganesan, the brother of Democratic People’s Front (DPF) leader Mano Ganesan, crossed over to the government in 2010 after contesting the General Election under the UNP ticket.
